Many people think that sea salt is healthier than table salt, but that is not true. Both salts contain about the same amount of sodium. Eating too much sodium is unhealthy. It burdens the kidneys and heart and increases the risk of high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, stomach cancer and osteoporosis.
High bloodpressure
Especially people who already have high blood pressure should be careful with salt. Eating less salt reduces the risk of high blood pressure. The following applies: every gram less counts. Too much salt is bad for everyone.
Sea salt contains a small amount of minerals such as magnesium and calcium. However, this is so little that it does not contribute to meeting the recommended daily amounts.
2.4 grams of sodium
All adults are advised not to consume more than 6 grams of salt per day. This is equivalent to 2.4 grams of sodium.
