Enjoy the German nature
We sometimes forget how important breathing is for your health. This reduces stress and lowers your heart rate. In Germany they know all about this, because there you will find special climatic spas and spas, where the air is extra pure. And while you’re there: take a nice walk or join a yoga session. There is no better way to fully recharge your battery.
There is nothing better than being in nature. It’s just good to suck clean air deep into your lungs – while walking, running or doing yoga. Breathing deeply and more consciously lowers the heart rate, reduces stress and increases your well-being. In clean air, in the forest, by the sea or in the mountains, deep breathing is extra beneficial for your health. And that’s exactly where German climatic spas – also called climatic spas – are located: in areas where air and climate are optimal.

Enjoy the forest
Germany is very diverse and offers countless opportunities for outdoor activities. Think of running along a lake or a nice yoga session. Exercising in the fresh air is not only healthy – it also makes you happy. Not in the mood to move very actively? Then you go for a nice walk in the woods, right? Walking in the forest keeps you healthy, makes you happier and combats stress. It is not for nothing that ‘forest bathing’, or shinrin-yoku, has been recommended by the government in Japan for over thirty years. And Germany owns the forests for it.
Forest bathing is more than just a stroll through the forest; you use all your senses. You see and smell the trees and plants, feel the ground beneath your feet, hear the leaves rustling in the wind. Birds chirp, leaves and pine needles spread a fresh, spicy scent. It is wonderful to suck this air deep into your lungs. In other words: you make real contact with nature again. Research shows that this is not only a good way to reduce stress; your blood pressure also goes down and your memory and your immune system and respiratory system get a healthy boost. In fact, it is a kind of mindfulness in nature. Combine it with breathing exercises and meditation and you will benefit from your forest bath. With breathing exercises the breath is directed in a targeted manner, with meditation the attention – and both have a relaxing effect.
Meditation and Breath Therapy
Speaking of meditation, meditation courses are offered in several German spas and spas. You will learn to breathe more deeply and more consciously. This takes practice, but it is worth it: meditation strengthens the ability to concentrate and relaxes. Meditating regularly promotes inner balance and increases resistance to stress. Breathing exercises increase your well-being and vitality and once you have learned them properly, they are a relaxation technique that you can apply anywhere. Deep, conscious breathing allows your body to receive more oxygen, slowing your heart rate, reducing stress and improving your general health.
You can also opt for targeted breathing therapy. Long-term incorrect and tense breathing can cause all kinds of complaints, including a feeling of tightness, frequent sighing, palpitations, tingling in the fingers or dizziness. During breathing therapy you learn to deal with your breathing tension and you come to a breathing that suits you better. This therapy, including inhalation, is recommended for respiratory diseases. Many spas specialize in this and offer brine or – as part of thalassotherapy – seawater inhalations. Breathing therapy is often combined with relaxation exercises, meditation, qigong or yoga. Many people with chronic bronchitis, asthma, COPD or other respiratory diseases benefit from it.
Sun salutation on the beach
Do you want to combine conscious breathing with movement and stretching? Then a wellness holiday is a good opportunity to roll out your yoga mat. Yoga keeps your muscles flexible, increases your lung capacity and has a positive effect on your ability to concentrate. Germany has yoga locations of all shapes and sizes that you can go to as a beginner and as an advanced yogi. You can simply stretch and stretch there, but healthy food and relaxation are of course also part of it and make your stay a really healthy holiday. And a morning greeting with a view of the forest, the sea or the mountains is extra good for your mood. It may even be the start of a new, more conscious lifestyle.
And it doesn’t stop at yoga, because the German nature is of course ideal for a beautiful (mountain) walk or bike ride through the area. For the latter you do not need to bring your own bicycle, because most spas offer the possibility to rent an (electric) bicycle. This way you see significantly more of the environment and it is also good for your condition. You can also book various themed and round trips if you want to combine relaxing cures with a more active holiday.
