Fungal nails can be caused by old age, medication, eczema or athlete’s foot. In the latter case, there is actually a fungal nail, which you fight by tackling athlete’s foot (ask your doctor for advice).
How do you prevent them?
There are over-the-counter remedies that help keep the nails elastic. The most common sources of infection of athlete’s foot are the swimming pool, the sports hall shower and the sauna. Always wear flip flops there. Wash your feet carefully after returning home.
what can you do about it?
In the case of athlete’s foot, it is important to dry your feet well. Wear socks made of absorbent material (cotton or wool) and breathable shoes. Athlete’s foot is combated with antifungal ointment or pills (antimycotic), prescribed by the general practitioner. In addition, all shoes should be treated with an antifungal powder.
Prevention is better than cure
Foot complaints can generally be prevented by taking good care of your feet. That means: good hygiene, appropriate shoes and feet regularly for a soft and supple skin. We find it quite normal to pay attention and money to facial and hand care, but we often skip our feet. And that while they are heavily loaded on a daily basis! Moreover, by treating them well, feet not only feel better, they also look much better. This way you can walk into the summer with confidence.
