This ranking placed the United Kingdom in 5th place, Spain in 7th, Canada in 9th. While France is positioned in 24th position, the United States in 28th and China in 92nd. 188 countries have been tested.
Researchers from the American Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) in Seattle and funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the United States, conducted this study, the first annual assessment of health performance related to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs/SDGs).
The results by country are obtained from a complex index based on 33 health indicators to assess the progress of these countries between 1990 and 2015. Each index is scored from 0 (worst) to 100 (best).
The results of this study showed that the majority of countries (60%) succeeded in reducing maternal mortality to less than 70 deaths per 100,000 live births, and infant mortality to 25 deaths per thousand live births. Scientists have noticed that no country has managed to completely eradicate diseases like tuberculosis.
“While the world has made progress in improving child and maternal survival and access to contraception since 1990, it is still far from reaching the United Nations goals in the fight against overweight children who are underweight. ‘aggravates, domestic violence or abuse ofalcohol “, conclude the authors of the study.
