The shower: is it morning and evening?
Once a day is enough, unless there is special effort, messy work or extreme heat. Not more, because each wash dislodges some of the micro-organisms that live on the epidermis (cutaneous microbiota) and protect it from external attacks.
Rather washcloth or wash by hand?
Instead, wash with bare hands, because the tight mesh of the washcloth is likely to transmit infections. No need to rub, gentle gestures are enough. We finish by dabbing the skin with a towel all over the body, without forgetting the folds, the area under the breasts, the toes, in order to prevent the appearance of mycoses.
Rather soap or shower oil?
A shower oil, a mild pH 5 soap (which is close to the neutral pH of pure water), a surgras gel or a soap-free soap (syndet) in order to cleanse without altering the protective hydrolipidic film. Conventional soaps are indeed too alkaline and weaken the colonies of “good bacteria” that protect our skin. It will then take them 8 hours to recover.
Prefer products without perfume, preservative or coloring and low foaming (less surfactants and synthetic foaming agents). As for the organic label, it has nothing to do with the health or beauty of your skin, even if “it is often a guarantee of good quality” according to Dr. Isabelle Rousseaux.
The face: is it morning and evening?
All day, our face suffers from the aggression of the sun, pollution, tobacco, cosmetics… And at night, we sweat a lot. So clean it well morning and evening, even if you are tired or late.
“It has to become a routine. To stick to it, the simpler and more pleasant it is, the better”. Use, morning and evening, a cleansing cream adapted to your skin type, emulsified with lukewarm water. Take the opportunity to perform small circular massages, then rinse thoroughly with water. Depending on your preferences, you can also choose a lotion, a cleansing milk or even a micellar water poured on a washable cleansing pad in organic cotton, bamboo (more eco-responsible), which you rinse with clear water or with a spray of thermal water.
What care for the day?
Once the face has been thoroughly cleansed, it is nourished and protected with a moisturizer adapted to your skin type. Better still, from March to October, we prefer an SPF 50 sun protection cream, which we will make penetrate well. It is the best cream.
What care for the night?
The skin is more permeable at night than during the day, so we take advantage of it! From the age of 40, drop a few drops of a serum based on retinol or fruit acids (on prescription) which will stimulate fibroblasts, cells which produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Then apply a moisturizer. You can also replace the serum with a cream with fruit acids (in pharmacies without prescription) or with vitamin A acid – retinoic acid – (on prescription), in order to accelerate cell renewal.
