In anticipation of heat episodes, the Health Department recalls the simple advice to be adopted by everyone, but especially by the most vulnerable people at risk.
“Hot weather: prepare yourself and adopt the right actions” is the call launched by the Ministry of Health this Saturday. Indeed, Météo France forecasts a sequence of very high temperatures from Sunday and throughout next week. Several dozen departments will gradually be affected. To find out about the situation in your region, consult the meteorological vigilance map.
And for those affected by this heat wave, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) recalls the simple advice to be adopted by all, but especially by the most at-risk fragile people (people over 65 years old, people with disabilities or sick at home, dependent people, pregnant women, etc.) in order to best fight against the consequences of heat.
To start, drink water regularly without waiting to be thirsty; and cool off by wetting your body (at least the face and forearms) several times a day.
Then, also take care of your diet, so eat in sufficient quantity and do not drink alcohol.
Keep your home cool
In addition, avoid going out during the hottest hours and spend several hours a day in a cool place (cinema, municipal library, supermarket, museum, etc.); all this while avoiding physical effort and keeping your accommodation cool (close windows and shutters during the day, open them in the evening and at night if it is cooler).
In addition, remember to regularly update your loved ones and, when necessary, dare to ask for help.
Another tip, check the Météo-France website regularly for information. Because “these particular meteorological conditions and the levels of vigilance they cause will be specified by Météo-France in the coming days”, indicates the Ministry of Health.
Voluntary help from town halls to the most vulnerable
Finally, if you know elderly, disabled or fragile people who are isolated, encourage them to register on the town hall list in order to receive volunteer help, and, during a heat wave, check in with them. regularly.
You can also print them all of the recommendations in the event of a heat wave.
As a reminder, as every year, level 1 of the seasonal watch of the National Heatwave Plan (PNC) was triggered on June 1.
“The other management and communication measures provided for in the PNC will be gradually implemented as the situation evolves,” concludes the ministry.
