Google is trying to turn Gmail into a productivity tool. This also includes some visual changes, such as for the receiver field.
The changes were announced last October (2021), but are only now coming to users. Between now and September everyone has to the update have gotten.
Selecting recipients should be faster from now on, thanks to visual adjustments. You will also see a photo next to the person’s name, so that you can make the choice faster.
Changes for Gmail
In addition, you can right-click on the contact, which gives you access to more information. This way you can copy or change the e-mail address or name of that person.
Gmail also issues a warning when you first send an email to a person. The yellow banner states that you should be careful with shared information.
Furthermore, duplicate e-mail addresses are now light gray in the list of recipients, so that you know that you do not have to select them. Then you know for sure that that person is already there.
Many of these changes are aimed at business users, but we can imagine some of the components coming to mainstream consumers at some point.
