According to a survey conducted by the NGO Générations Futures, whatever our lifestyle or our diet, we are all contaminated by glyphosate, the active molecule of the herbicide Roundup, produced by Monsanto.
The NGO called for an immediate end to the sale of Roundup
It is a damning observation that the NGO Générations Futures draws up, at the end ofan investigation into the presence of glyphosate, the active molecule of the herbicide Roundup, in our dailies. She indeed asked about thirty people, from 8 to 60 years old, a urine sample. Among the participants, singer Emily Loizeau or columnist Charline Vanhoenacker.
After having these samples examined, the NGO found that all of them, without exception, contained glyphosate. This means that water, air and food are contaminated with this world’s best-selling herbicide, which is classified as a probable carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). In the name of the precautionary principle, the NGO called for the immediate cessation of the sale of this product.
Too much contamination according to the NGO
In urine samples, the researchers determined that the contamination was 1.25 micrograms per liter (µg / l) on average, or ” 12.5 times the maximum allowable concentration for a pesticide in water According to the report of Future Generations. And, ironically, it was the former socialist minister for ecology, Delphine Batho, who had the highest rate, with 2.4 µg / l.
“ Unfortunately these analyzes confirm what we feared after having consulted other studies carried out elsewhere in Europe and in the world: we are all contaminated by glyphosate », Lamented the NGO. As a reminder, the authorization of glyphosate within the European Union expired a few months ago, which did not prevent the European Commission to re-authorize its sale for the next 14 years.
