Reporting in Windows has improved a lot over the years and blue screens have become a lot rarer, but they still occur. To save you the necessary work in determining the cause, there is a WhoCrashed, which is free for private use only. This program analyzes the log files of previous crashes and then tries to explain the cause more clearly.
