A batch, sold under the brand “J’aime le lait d’ici”, was recalled on Sunday, December 23, after the discovery of residues of cleaning products in cartons of milk.
Be careful if you have to buy milk. The milk cooperative Sodiaal recalled batches after the discovery of milk cartons contaminated with household products. Traces of detergent were found in cartons of semi-skimmed milk.
A complaint from a consumer, whose milk was brown in color, alerted the group to the presence of contaminated bricks among the batches sold. For the moment, no report of sick person has been received by the company. The milk would have been sold to distributors specializing in catering and to stores of the Système U group.
One batch recalled and removed from shelves
On Sunday December 23, the Sodiaal cooperative announced the recall and withdrawal of a batch contaminated by household products of the “J’aime le lait d’ici” brand: it bears the number 18312, expires on March 8, 2019, was produced between 8:40 a.m. and 11:54 a.m. and bears health approval FR 44-025-001. But she did not communicate on the place where these bricks were produced, nor on the nature of the detergents found in the milk.
“This incident is linked to human error” and “occurred over a very short period of time, about two minutes in the production line”, specifies the French group to AFP. The “J’aime le lait d’ici” brand is the property of Orlait, whose main shareholder is Candia, a subsidiary of the Sodiaal group. Analyzes are still in progress.
A little over a year ago, the Lactalis group had to recall all of its infant milk production after the discovery of batches contaminated with salmonella. 38 infants had been poisoned.
