Blédina baby dishes: what are the risks linked to aflatoxins?
The recalled dishes exceed regulatory thresholds for aflatoxins and are being withdrawn from sale as a precaution. “Aflatoxins are toxins produced by molds belonging mainly to two species among the 10 identified species of the genus Aspergillus (Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus), fungi that can easily develop in warm and humid regions.notes the Léon Bernard Cancer Center on its site. They can be found in corn, rice, certain spices or even in figs or coffee. “In Europe, in humans, acute poisoning due to aflatoxins is never observed, reassures the body. (…) The disorders linked to chronic poisoning due to the ingestion of lightly contaminated food over several weeks or months are: diarrhea, vomiting and weight loss. Damage to the liver, which remains the target organ of aflatoxins, may occur..”
