A passport to access certain businesses
While the European Commission is working on the launch of a digital “green certificate” to circulate freely again in the European Union, Denmark has just launched, this Tuesday April 6, 2021 its Covid passport as part of a reopening plan progressive country. It is one of the first countries in Europe to set up this device.
Available via a secure application as well as in paper format, the “corona passport” should allow access to certain businesses such as beauty and hairdressing salons or even driving schools. In practice, the Danes will have to prove, depending on their situation, that they are vaccinated, that they have already contracted Covid-19 with a positive test for two to twelve weeks or that they have negative results from a test. screening carried out for less than 72 hours.
For the moment, this “Covid passport” is not used for travel even if it could be in the long term. Likewise, students who have partially returned to their schools since Tuesday are not affected by this device since regular screening is recommended for all students over 12 and the teaching staff.
Gradual reopening of the country from the end of April
If Denmark has launched its “corona passport”, it is with the aim of gradually reopening the country from the end of April. Indeed, this mandatory device for residents should allow terraces to reopen from April 21, then restaurants, museums, theaters and cinemas from May 6. As for the almost general reopening of the country, the authorities are targeting May 21, when the vaccination of over 50s should be finished.
In the event of non-compliance with the device, entrepreneurs who do not require the presentation of the passport will be liable to a fine of a minimum of 400 euros and up to 6,000 euros in the event of a repeat offense as specified by the Ministry of Justice. On the customer side, the fine will be around 330 euros.
If the Danish authorities have assured that this device should be “provisional”, it should still remain in force until the entire Danish population has had access to the vaccine, that is to say during the following summer. their estimates. For the time being, there are 7% of the population fully vaccinated and 13.3% of the inhabitants who have received a first dose of the vaccine.
