Psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich, pioneer of body psychotherapy, was the first to use the term “breastplates”. This designates the protections that we create for ourselves in reaction to physical and psychological attacks, and which can, over the years, lock us up and hinder the flow of our vital energy. Hence the objective of the Method of liberation of the cuirasses (MLC): to free oneself from it.
In practice
Guided by the practitioner’s indications, the person explores their body through opening and stretching movements. Instruments (ball, foam stick, small bolster) are sometimes placed in different places of the body to “open” the breastplates, penetrate the muscular layers and the muscles. fascias (thin membrane that envelops each structure of our body and links them together like a spider’s web). At the end of the session, a verbalization period allows you to put into words the emotions felt during the work.
