Baby eczema: the epidermis must be rehydrated
Dry skin, rednessvesicles on the cheeks, in the bend of the elbow, in the hollow of the wrists… Of unknown origin, atopic eczema results in intense itching in babies, causing a vicious cycle of pushing and scratching. Certain anti-inflammatory, soothing and healing thermal waters are used for its management, and in particular in severe forms, which resist the usual treatments.
Thanks to adapted baths (from 3 months), “the epidermis is well rehydrated and very quickly regains more comfort”, specifies Rachid Ainouche, director of the Thermes de La Roche-Posay. Showers sprayed on the body and on the face complete the action of the bath, soothe and decongest the skin. Performed by a doctor, the threadlike low-pressure shower cleans the patches of eczema. It softens the epidermis and eliminates bacteria in case of secondary infection. Finally, a drinking cure ensures a good supply of minerals and trace elements.

Baby eczema: space out flare-ups
Health education is part of spa treatment. Fun workshops teach the right hydration gestures and give older children hygiene advice… Taking care of your skin thus becomes child’s play. The white ladybug game, for example, consists of putting dots of moisturizer on the body, then spreading them with a gentle massage. “The consolidation of the parent/child bond is also essential, insists Marie-Ange Martincic, director of the Thermes d’Avène. It is done in a playful way, to remove blockages and apprehensions about this pathology. »
All these treatments gradually reduce the intensity of the itching and the relapse frequency, but several stays are sometimes necessary. To be reimbursed, the cure must be prescribed by a doctor. Before departure, don’t forget to send a request for social security coverage…
