At just 15, Emily Duffy conceived a fire-resistant and waterproof sleeping bag, intended for the homeless.
Presented last year at a fair for young scientists, the sleeping bag is on the streets of Dublin today.
The particularity of this bag? It’s a kind of fire resistant metallic bubble wrap, material waterproof which will be very useful to the homeless of the very wet streets of the Irish capital.
It is also equipped with a large pocket to store things like clothes, which makes it possible to make a pillow.
In addition to saving lives, Emily’s invention created jobs. Indeed, thanks to the media coverage and the many donations of the Irish, homeless people were hired by the Mendicity Institution to participate in the manufacture of “Duffily Bags”, for a salary of 10 € per hour.
