A new translation feature is available in iOS 16 that allows you to translate literally everything around you live. Unbelievably handy!
apple unveiled a whole lot of new gadgets with the announcement of iOS 16. But something that didn’t come into the spotlight was the fact that iOS’ translation function is now also incorporated into the camera app. In short, an iPhone from iOS 16 will soon be a real-time translation machine. genius!
iOS 16 translation function
The translation function became discovered by MacRumors and allows translating anything in the real world. A user will soon be able to simply open the camera app and what on the screen can then be translated. Of course, Apple isn’t necessarily a pioneer in this area; Google Translate has had this feature for some time now.
Apple does add a little extra pepper with Quick Actions. All information translated on the screen can also be used interactively. This means that translated texts with, for example, a URL or a currency can be visited live and can be converted into another currency.
With the new feature, Apple actually removes another barrier when it comes to translation. Previously, a user still had to provide input himself, for example by first taking a photo of a text. As of iOS 16, the translation feature comes with a live alternative via the camera app.
The operating system is expected to be released this fall along with the iPhone 14. iOS 16 will then be available for iPhone 8 and newer.
