Launched just four years ago, the second generation of the A110 will not be replaced before 2025. To return to the spotlight, the Alpine berlinetta is therefore offered a discreet restyling at the end of 2021, with power which can reach for the first time the bar of 300 hp.
In the press, few modern cars have aroused as much enthusiasm as the second generation of the A110. Unusual lightness, willingly playful behavior, preserved comfort, seductive neo-retro line are praised there. Launched in December 2017, this reincarnation of the famous berlinetta has found the right arguments to seduce. With, to crown these efforts, a nice start to a commercial career… at least on the French market. Unfortunately, sales in France have since fallen to a much lower level, and they have never really managed to take off outside our borders. Alpine is therefore trying to give a boost to its only current model. by offering it a new range for 2022. What will help him to hold out until the arrival of his replacement, who will adopt a slightly different position with its 100% electric motor. But the model is not expected before 2025.

A new aerodynamic kit for the A110 S
Can we really talk about restyling? Not sure, as the aesthetic alterations are discreet. We especially note the possibility of opting for a biton body on the A110 S – a treatment so far reserved for the Japanese market -, with however a single possible marriage between the new Fire orange and a black roof. We are far from the possibilities of customizing a Renault Captur! Sometimes considered too discreet, this S version can also be purchased, for the first time, a fixed rear spoiler and a carbon front blade. But this “aero kit”, which as a bonus includes extended fairings at the front under the car to improve the efficiency of the flat floor, remains on the list of options. It comes with an unbridled top speed of 275 km / h, instead of 260 km / h in normal times, and promises an aerodynamic downforce of 141 kg at this rate.
The 300 hp bar now reached

To offer this additional performance, Alpine has slightly revised the 1.8 turbo four-cylinder of this S variant. Faithful to the position in the rear central position, it reaches for the first time the 300 hp bar, which is as much as the 2.0 flat-four. of a Porsche 718 Cayman, heavier by 226 kg. This is 8 hp more than before, and this value is obtained at a higher speed: 6,300 rpm. Still limited by the dual-clutch gearbox and seven original Getrag gears, the torque goes from 320 to 340 Nm. In this way, this S widens the gap with the “base” A110, which stagnates at 252 hp and 320 Nm.
The recent Légende GT limited series is replaced by an A110 GT with the same recipe: 300 hp engine and big brakes from the A110 S, but with more comfortable seats and chassis settings. The 2022 range thus consists of three versions that will now be easier to distinguish, since their name is now displayed in full on the back, under that of the brand.
A multimedia system finally modernized

The other major change is visible in the cabin, provided you turn on the central touch screen. If its 7-inch format seems quite small today, it nevertheless controls a brand new multimedia system. For the first time, the popular functions Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will notably be available. The set is also more intuitive, thanks to a customizable display by widgets, and a future remote update will add a Wi-Fi connection. In this way, Alpine is trying to correct one of the main flaws of its cut , deemed outdated on this point from its launch. Even if you don’t buy an A110 to spend your life staring at the screen, it won’t hurt.
New equipment available

In addition to the “Aero Pack” already mentioned for the A110 S, new optional equipment is appearing:
- Comfort Pack (on basic A110 only): Sabelt Confort seats in black leather adjustable in six ways, 18-inch Serac rims, Sport aluminum crankset, Focal audio equipment and Park Assist;
- Park Assist : front and rear parking assistance + reversing camera;
- Sport Exhaust (on A110 only) with optimized post-injection;
- Microfiber pack (on A110 GT and A110 S only): steering wheel, headliner, center console and dashboard in black microfiber, can be combined with the Racing seats option on A110 S;
- Semi-slick tires (on A110 S) Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect;
- Racing seats (exclusively on A110 S): Sabelt Sport seat upholstery in microfiber.
This makes it possible in particular to compensate for the disappearance of the old Pure and Légende finishes, now replaced by the only “basic” A110. In addition, 22 retro “heritage” shades are still available in addition to the usual colors and the new Fire Orange.
A contained increase in prices and penalties

Available to order from today, this new range will keep a limited ecological penalty in 2022. Thanks to CO emissions2 between 152 and 160 g / km, the tax will remain contained between 1,172 and 2,205 €. The great rival Porsche Cayman is far from being able to say the same. Even if the arrival of a new ceiling at 50% of the price will help it limit breakage, it will incur an environmental penalty of at least € 29,846 next year!
As for the prices of this A110 cru 2022, they undergo a still reasonable increase, between 1,100 € and 2,400 €. The A110 GT is even less expensive by € 2,100 than the former Légende GT limited series of 292 hp. Not sure that the future 100% electric generation displays more competitive prices, despite a development this time carried out jointly with Lotus.
Versions | Price | Malus |
Alpine A110 252 hp | € 59,500 | € 1,172-1,504 |
Alpine A110 GT 300 hp | € 69,500 | € 1,386-1,504 |
