A film of a few minutes to better understand schizophrenia. The Days of Schizophrenia invite Internet users to delve into the mind of a person suffering from this mental disorder which affects hundreds of thousands of people in France.
Thanks to a video, the Internet user immerses himself in the head of a schizophrenic
“We all have a quirky side”. This is the slogan chosen by the Schizophrenia Days which, for the 15th edition, have launched a so-called “immersive” digital campaign aimed at raising awareness of this disease to the general public. And it is mainly thanks to an original video that Schizophrenia Days want to achieve their goal.
Broadcast online, this interactive experience invites the Internet user to get into the mind of a person with schizophrenia. Immersed in the setting of a family meal, he follows Antoine, a young man in his twenties, who introduces the members of his family. By simply touching its space bar, he can perceive Antoine’s confused feelings when he was in crisis, and switch instantly from one state to another, holding or releasing the bar. The “Antoine who benefits from a therapeutic follow-up” describes the manias, quirks and excesses of his family in a humorous way when the “Antoine without therapeutic follow-up” sees characters that are malicious and dangerous for him.
660,000 schizophrenics in France
The other objective of this campaign, and of this video, is also to allow everyone to detect the signs of the disease in a loved one who would have it without having been diagnosed. ” Schizophrenia is particularly disabling for patients and their loved ones. Detecting the first signs early is allowing those who suffer from it to be treated and thus to live a satisfying life. To this end, the family and those around them play a central role. », Underlines Jean-Christophe Leroy, president of the International Association of the Days of Schizophrenia, in a press release.
Schizophrenia today affects 660,000 people in France, or 1 in 100 people. This mental illness is considered by the World Health Organization (WHO) to be one of the 10 diseases causing the most disability.
