At a time when more and more French people are using their smartphone as an accessory to connected health, it remains difficult to navigate the jungle of health applications. To be able to sort it out and ensure the seriousness of the content offered, the French start-up DMD santé had the idea of setting up a label.
The m-Heath quality site is the first collaborative European label in mobile and connected health. The idea is to guide and reassure the general public about the information they consult, and in particular with regard to medical advice. M-Health quality is presented as a content certification system based on several criteria such as medical and legal value, compliance with regulations and data security.
How it works ? The publisher of a health app can self-assess the quality of his application by answering a questionnaire. Depending on the answers, he receives a good practice guide with ideas and advice to improve the points that could be missing. To obtain a label, certain criteria must be met and the application must obtain a satisfactory score. “For example if no medical source supports the formula, the application cannot be labeled”, explains Guillaume Marchand, president of the start-up DMD, quoted by La Tribune.
In 2015, 18-24 year olds were the first users of connected health accessories. But only 10% of them would be able to correctly interpret the information given, according to a Ifop / Phr poll.
