Citroën is preparing to restyl its C5 Aircross. The redesigned compact SUV is expected to sport a redesigned front mask, modernized taillights and retouched sidewalls. No change is expected under the hood. Its arrival is scheduled for 2022.
[Mise à jour le 22/09/2021] On the roads of Romania, one expects more readily to cross a prototype of Dacia than of Citroën. And yet, it was indeed the restyled C5 Aircross that was surprised. Camouflage always covers the front mask, the tailgate flap and the bottom of the sidewalls. What to indicate that the evolutions will be at the level of shields, optics and Airbumps. The presentation of the SUV could be held in the spring of 2022.

The C5 Aircross has been traveling European roads for three years now. Arrived in 2018 on the Chinese market, Citroën’s SUV will receive a mid-career development in a few months, as shown by this prototype photographed, not far from the Citroën factory in Renne-La Janais (Ille-et-Vilaine), by Dan, a member of the Worldscoop forum.
Restyled C5 Aircross: light styling evolutions
It is difficult to say if the front mask will be upset by a new light signature, as is the case for the new Citroën productions since the restyled C3. At the rear, the design of the lights seems to have been the center of attention of the brand’s designers at the chevrons. They were also interested in the protections placed at the bottom of the doors. On the other hand, no modification concerning the roof bars or the chrome ring framing the glazing.
A preserved interior
Inside, few changes are expected. The SUV could however follow the path of its cousin, the Peugeot 3008, who adopted a 10 ” touch screen during its restyling at the end of 2020.
But to integrate it, the C5 Aircross will have to separate the aerators between which the current 8 ” digital panel is integrated. A certain cost, but that would make it possible to havedirect access to dual-zone air conditioning controls on either side of the screen. For the rest, the Citroën model will retain its three independent seats at the rear, a rarity on the market.

An unchanged range of engines
Under the hood, this restyled version will keep the team that already runs the current catalog. There is a petrol and a diesel offering both developing 130 hp and which can be combined with an automatic transmission (EAT8). The whole is supported by a plug-in hybrid version of 225 hp. It’s hard to make it simpler. Citroën will present this C5 Aircross in 2022, for marketing in stride.
