For a long time it was thought that too much lettuce was not good for health. Lettuce contains nitrate. This substance occurs naturally in lettuce. Nitrate and the nitrite formed from it have long been regarded as toxic substances.
However, new research shows that the health risks of eating a lot of lettuce are negligible. This also applies to the combination of lettuce (or other nitrate-rich vegetables) and fish. So you can safely eat lettuce every day.
Tip: also eat other vegetables, because lettuce does not contain that many vitamins. For example, add red bell pepper to your lettuce, which is delicious and packed with vitamin C.
