Sport is health. But some are not very keen on it and do not exercise any physical activity. However, it is advisable to practice brisk walking, for at least an hour a day.
Walk and you will stay healthy
Researchers conducted a study on how many hours of physical activity it would take to stay healthy. They relied on a sample of one million people, of Australian, American and European origins.
To do this, they classified individuals, on average 45 years old, into four groups, according to the time during which they indulge in their sport: less than 50 minutes per day for the less active and up to 60 to 75 minutes for the more athletic.
The result is clear: being active is essential. They found that active people, who sat for an average of 8 hours a day, were less likely to die from chronic illness. On the other hand, the less athletic and even if they sat for less time during the day, have a higher risk.
Regular physical activity is necessary
The researchers therefore concluded that even if one spends a significant number of hours sitting, the fact of practicing a regular physical activity of at least one hour a day reduces the risk of dying prematurely.
It is recommended by the WHO that adults exercise for at least 150 minutes per week. Little or no physical activity has also been shown to be linked to an increased risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, or cancer.
So the next time you go to work or do your shopping, grab your bike or go on foot!
