‘There’s nothing wrong with a little pampering’
The summer season is now in full swing and that makes it extra difficult for many people to keep an eye on the line. Because a glass of wine on a sunny terrace or an ice cream on a hot day, that should be possible, right? Of course you don’t have to deny yourself everything, as long as you keep these 8 tips in mind.
Diet thinking is guaranteed to make you think only about what you can’t eat or what you did eat during the entire holiday. So be clear with yourself beforehand. Eating healthy is not a must, but a conscious choice to stay healthy and slim.
Tip 1
There’s nothing wrong with a little pampering. So treat yourself during the holidays with an ice cream, wine or gin and tonic. But remember: it is either or, not both and. If you want pizza in the evening, then you may have to pass up that ice cream sundae in the afternoon. And if you take that alcoholic drink on the terrace, try to stay away from the chips and nuts. During the holidays, alcohol intake can rise considerably, and with it the intake of kilocalories. Remember: it doesn’t have to be every day of course. Drink a glass of water next to each glass of alcohol.
Tip 2
In any case, pay attention to what you drink: water is preferred, especially when it is warm. It is low in calories and best quenches thirst. Water doesn’t have to be boring: vary with different types of fruit or sprigs of mint or cucumber. coffee lover? Then be careful with all those special coffees. By adding sugar and cream, you might as well stick them right on your thighs (see also the infographic below).
Tip 3
Ice cream is a nice treat on a hot day. And an ice cream should also be possible every now and then. Water or sorbet ice cream is preferred over ice cream. How about an ice cream? Order one in a bowl, not in a cone. In any case, that makes a difference.
Tip 4
Also on vacation, try to keep the structure of three meals a day and a few healthy snacks. That prevents you from sniffing.
Tip 5
Are you going out for a day? Although the offer is better than before, there is not really anything healthy to get in many amusement parks or tourist attractions. Try to put a piece of fruit in your bag or, for example, a bag of unroasted nuts for a nice appetite.
Tip 6
The holidays are an excellent opportunity to get some exercise. Set yourself up for at least an hour of exercise every day and stick to it. Preferably plan that movement in the morning, then that’s it. An energetic start to the day also gives you a good feeling for the rest of the day. Of course you don’t have to stop at that one sporting moment: a nice walk on the beach, a lesson in aqua aerobics in the pool or a bike ride along sights, it is not only extra exercise but also fun.
Tip 7
Are you going out for dinner? It is better not to take baguettes beforehand. It takes away the appetite, so that you enjoy the food less afterwards. Moreover, it is unnecessarily many kilocalories. Rather drink a glass of water, that also calms the appetite. How about a baguette? Then try to leave it at one piece.
Tip 8
Ask in the same restaurant if you can get the sauce separately with your food, so that you can dose yourself. This also applies to the dressing with your lettuce. Red sauces are usually leaner than white sauces. The latter are almost always based on cream or mayonnaise.
