The health barometer of the Epsy cabinet for the Fnim (independent national federation of mutuals) reveals that more than half of French people want better reimbursement of care and are mostly in favor of the profound change in contracts binding them to their Mutual.
The French want new guarantees
The majority of French people (94%) are equipped with complementary health care. And, according to the barometer, 81% of them believe that complementary health insurance, “it is essential, we cannot do without it. “But as the government is going to cap the reimbursements of complementary health insurance, 32% of French people want to be offered reinforced guarantees for fee overruns and hospitalization. And in the same area, 35% of French people would appreciate guarantees refocused on major health expenditure (hospitalization, surgery, etc.). If 90% of French people are “satisfied with their complementary health”, almost all of them (96%) consider that it must defend the interests of patients and guarantee them access to care.
Waiver of treatment
Half of the French who have not taken out complementary health insurance have been forced by economic reasons.
But, more worrying, the barometer of the Fnim confirms the rise of the phenomenon of the renunciation of medical care. Over the past two years, a third of French people have given up on care for economic reasons, with dental (65%) andoptical (49%) at the top of the list. Those under 30 are the most likely to not seek treatment (42%), while those over 60 are only 25% to have given up.
This survey was carried out by Epsy with a sample of 1000 people, representative of the French population (sex, age, profession, socio-professional category, family situation, household size and location) and with a sample of 1600 member mutuals. to Fnim mutuals (profiles similar to the national general public).
