How to attract doctors to public hospitals ? As practitioners age and gradually retire, young graduates are reluctant to replace them in hospitals. To compensate for this lack, the Minister of Health Marisol Touraine commissioned a project this summer from the former senator and general manager of Jacky Le Menn hospital. The goal of its mission: to identify a series of measures aimed at strengthening the attractiveness of positions in hospitals.
Among the 57 proposals submitted to the ministry, the former senator mentions raising the retirement age : instead of the current 68, hospital practitioners should indeed work until 72, after validation of their state of health by occupational medicine.
At the same time, the former senator wishes to attract young graduates to public hospitals by increasing their remuneration, to the tune of 5,000 euros more per year. the gross annual salary upon hiring of a hospital practitioner would thus reach the sum of 54,846 euros. This salary increase promises to be delicate given the budget restrictions currently affecting public hospitals. This is why Jacky Le Menn proposes to reduce the number of temporary contracts, particularly expensive, to finance the salaries of young doctors. Temporary doctors could be replaced by regional groups of substitute doctors who would receive an additional 1,000 euros per month.
All of these proposals will be examined by Marisol Touraine, who should submit an action plan after the vote of the health law.
