The American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) studied health surveys of more than 400,000 of their compatriots, in order to extract sleep statistics. It appears from this study revealed on the NBC news websitethat one in three Americans not sleeping enough.
On average, only 65% of respondents said they got at least 7 hours of sleep each day.
“Sleeping less than seven hours a night is associated with an increased risk obesity, diabetes, high blood pressurecoronary artery disease, strokeand even depression“, CDC experts point out. “Yet such simple rules of life as going to bed at the same time every night, getting up at the same time every morning, and turning off televisions, computers and mobile phones in the bedroom would save sleep time precious.”
This CDC report confirms another study which indicated that the duration of sleep on the nights before working days increased reduced by an hour and a halfto go from eight hours to seven or even six hours per night.
