It’s a law of nature (or almost): when you’re not well, you eat. But the most unfortunate part of this story is that we eat anything and everything (well, above all anything) and that we turn more easily to the chocolate praline bar than to the planter of vegetables…
The latest study, published in the Journal of Nutrition and conducted on 30,240 adults who responded to at least six food surveys, reveals that women with depressive symptoms are more attracted to so-called “snacking” foods, high in calories, fatty and sweet. We are not drawing you: pastries, chocolate, cookies, cakes… So many foods that are not necessarily eaten at the table and are bad for our figure and our health.
A result that applies to women but not to men…
Because you don’t change a winning team, even in the face of emotions, parity is not respected. If this symptom of food emotionality is found in 60% of participants with a depressive disorder, these results only hold for women.
As shown in a previous study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, emotional overeating leads to overweight andobesity. So to digest the emotional shock, we will prefer an outing with friends or a good sports session to evacuate our anger with a healthy effort rather than an orgy of Nutella toast.
