Diabetes, Cancer, heart disease… Having an unhealthy lifestyle can have health consequences. Which countries are the most reasonable in this regard? To find out, a study study carried out by Clinic Compare looked at the consumption ofalcohol and of tobacco per person per year, as well as the prevalence of obesity in the population. The result is a ranking of the “healthiest” and least “healthy” countries in the world, based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO), the CIA World Factbook and the World Lung Association.
The Czech Republic, the least “healthy” country in the world
At the top of the top 10 least “healthy” countries in the world? The Czech Republic. And for good reason: each inhabitant consumes 13.7 liters of pure alcohol per year! On the podium, we also find Russia and Slovenia. In this central European country, people smoke 2,637 cigarettes every year. The only non-European country in the ranking, the United States, which has one of theobesity highest in the world and thus comes in 10th place, tied with Lithuania.
The ranking also lists the “healthiest” countries in the world. In first position, we find Afghanistan, because of its obesity rate, which is one of the lowest on the planet, but also its low consumption of tobacco (83 cigarettes per capita) and alcohol. This is hardly surprising when you consider that the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in this Central Asian country. In second and third position of this top 10, we find Guinea and Niger. France, for its part, does not appear in either of these two rankings.
