Cholesterol, saturated fat and calories, classic restaurants do not perform better than fast food restaurants. Indeed, their complete menus are as unbalanced as those of fast food restaurants.
The only solution to eating a balanced diet is to share your meals at home or to prepare your lunch box.
The researchers analyzed the health checks of 18,098 Americans between 2003 and 2010. The scientists sought to establish which type of catering (at home, starter-main course-dessert in a traditional restaurant or fast food) was better for the health, taking into account the daily calorie intake and 24 nutrition parameters.
The findings of the study show that only eating at home is good for you. And that a full meal in a classic restaurant increases the number of calories in the same way as the menus offered at fast food. Eating at a fast food restaurant or a full menu at a restaurant increases the daily energy intake by 190.29 kcal and 186.74 kcal (compared to a meal eaten at home).
Likewise, the total fat consumption increased at the same time by 10.61 g and 9.58 g (of which saturated fat + 3.49g and + 2.46g), like that of cholesterol by 10.34 mg and of 57.90 mg and that of salt, +97.47 for fast food and +411.92 mg.
The right order when you are at the restaurant
If you eat lunch almost daily at a restaurant, it would be good to find in your meals: a source of protein (lean meat such as ground beef, rump steak … or poultry, fish, eggs) and not too much fat (cream sauce , butter, etc.), raw or cooked vegetables, starchy foods or bread, dairy products or cheese, raw or cooked fruit. We avoid fries, bread while waiting, sauces and desserts that are too sweet and too fatty. We drink water and we do not accompany our menu with aperitifs or wine.
