According to scientific experiments presented by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), Unismoke and Zesti Smoke 10, two aromatic products added to foods to give them a “smoky” scent, have harmful effects on the health of rats in- beyond a certain level of absorption. Smoke Concentrate 809045, for its part, did not show any adverse health effects in rats at the highest levels used in experimental tests.
Conversely, an EFSA scientific panel concluded that the aromatic product Smoke Concentrate 809045 does not pose a health risk.
