60 Million consumers screened 119 household products, from 52 different brands, to understand if their composition could be harmful to health. In the last special issue, published on December 9, it appears that a third of them contain potentially harmful substances. Two product categories are particularly singled out.
After studying their composition, a score was established, ranging from the letter A (to be used without reservation) to the letter E, which corresponds to an alert in the face of “strongly discouraged products, too many problematic substances”. D and E ratings were given to 39 products, which are bad for both human health and the environment.
Deodorant sprays and multi-surface wipes
In these “toxic” household products, with poor scores, we find: Their use is all the more problematic as they are scattered in the air. “They come at the top of the purchases to be avoided”, notes 60 Million consumers.
- multi-surface disinfectant wipes and for toilets : 75% are poorly rated.
- sprays to disinfect the air (58% to present risks) and those to deodorize (50%).
The magazine warns about “irritating and allergenic substances that are very harmful to health (such as endocrine disruptors, carcinogens, toxic substances, etc.)”. The investigation also evokes mutagenic substances, risky for reproduction.
