To prove that the camera on the iPhone 13 Pro is good, Apple has made a movie that was shot entirely with the smartphone.
The camera of Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro is just okay. The camera is certainly sufficient in daily use. Every year with each new version of the smartphone, the camera is improved. This is no different with the iPhone 13 and to show how good the camera is, a film was made with it.
iPhone 13 movie
The film was completely shot with the iPhone 13 Pro. Apple shared a short film called “Life is But a Dream” made by South Korean film director Park Chan-wook. This director is known for “Oldboy”, “The Handmaiden”, “Lady Vengeance” and more.
Commissioned by Apple, the 21-minute film tells the story of an undertaker who needs wood to build a coffin for his village savior. He digs up an abandoned grave and awakens the ghost of an old swordsman.
Apple also has a separate “making of” video uploaded, which explains how Park and his film crew used the iPhone 13 Pro’s features to create the short film. It is not that the film was shot with an iPhone in hand. They use a lot of (and expensive) peripherals. This makes the result so impressive, but whether a non-professional filmmaker can match this quality is the question.
Marketing
Apple shows how good the camera is. “Shot on iPhone” is a long-running ad campaign from Apple. The company has previously commissioned other short films. Recently, Apple shared a short film by Chinese director Zhang Meng to celebrate Chinese New Year.
