This is a first, the campaign “one kiss = 1 vaccine” continues exceptionally until January 20, 2011 on the web with the operation “1 kiss = 1 vaccine”.
For 5 years, Pampers has been involved alongside Unicef: 100 million mothers and their babies have been vaccinated in 21 countries. Via the site www.pampers.fr, just click on a virtual kiss and Pampers will then offer a tetanus vaccine to Unicef. The objective; reach 100,000 kisses before January 20, 2011. So let’s continue to send free kisses to help Unicef fight and defeat infant tetanus.
What is tetanus?
Tetanus is an infectious disease that is caught by contamination of a deep or light wound. The tetanus bacillus secretes a neurotoxin that travels to the spinal cord and brainstem, causing muscle contractures, convulsions and spasms. In 2008, tetanus was responsible for the deaths of 128,000 newborns worldwide.
In France, baby’s immunization schedule includes vaccination in 3 doses from the age of 2 months. A recall is carried out a year later, then every 5 years until 18 years. In adulthood, boosters are administered every 10 years. In 2008, tetanus killed 41 people in France.
