Seeing the totally amazed expression of this young mother, you really wonder what disaster could have happened in the delivery room! Still, the story of Koto Nakamura (the woman in the photo) is not at all unhappy:childbirth went well, the baby is healthy. Except that he is not exactly as his parents expected him …
Back to the beginning of the story. Sina Niakansafy and Koto Nakamura, an Australian couple, awaited a happy event: a little girl, whom they had planned to baptize Hinata, a Japanese name which means “sunny”. Throughout the duration of the pregnancy, the future parents had therefore received little clothes and pink toys for the baby …
But on the day of the birth, the surprise was total: instead of giving birth to a baby girl, Koto Nakamura gave birth to a baby boy … The expression on his face (absolutely inimitable!) Was immortalized. by Jessica Jackson, a birth photographer who then posted the snapshot on her Instagram account, @ittybittyphotographytas.
The midwife had already made a mistake once
“I thought it was a joke! But in the end, it does not change our happiness” tells the young woman to the newspaper Today Parents. “In a few seconds, Koto Nakamura went through a host of emotions: shock, surprise … and finally, pure and simple joy” adds the photographer. The little boy, who is the couple’s first child, was named Taiga, a Japanese given name meaning “tall and graceful.”
The error is the midwife of Koto Nakamura who committed it: she misinterpreted the sex of the baby during the ultrasounds. And this is not her first ball … “She had already made a mistake with another couple,” says Sina Niakansafy. “Besides, we were laughing about it with Koto, it had become a recurring joke between us. And finally, it happened to us too!”
