Did you know that it is during the summer that we buy the most old cars? According to the Hiscox report, published in 2022, almost 6,400 vintage cars are sold between the months of June and August. The argus therefore offers you a new selection of dormant treasures, some for more than 30 years, unearthed on the leboncoin classifieds site. Simple dusting or complete restoration, everyone can find what they are looking for.

The French still in force…
Obviously, the popular French cars are very represented at the “barn finds”. This is the case, for example, of the Renault 4CV. The copy in our selection has not moved for 30 years and requires a lot of bodywork and mechanical work. If it remains less popular than the Citroën 2CV, the 4CV remains an icon of the tricolor automobile which easily restored thanks to the many parts available on the market at affordable prices.
Speaking of the manufacturer with the rafters, a DS 21 Pallas and a Méhari are notably part of our “summer favourites”. On the side of Peugeot, there is choice in this summer period with 104, 403 break, 504 or 205 Multi. We also find an atypical French in our June selection: the Simca Vedette “Versailles”. The particularity of this model is its original Ford V8 engine. The copy found on leboncoin has only 32,000 km. The reason ? She stayed asleep for 35 years!
…but foreigners are not left out
For lovers of foreign models, we cannot forget the Volkswagen models and in particular the mythical Beetle. An advertisement for a beautiful first-hand blue copy caught our attention. According to the seller, this 1968 Cox has not undergone any restoration and is strictly original. For those who prefer more livable models or who dream of road-trips, there is the inevitable Combi. Not all models for sale are created equal. For those who have time, a T3 from 1983 to be fully restored is offered for 3 €200.
Rarer in the ads: this Honda Z 600 and its 600 cc twin. Despite its condition, the seller is still asking €3,800 for it. Or this BMW E9 3.0 CS. It is, neither more nor less, the most expensive barn find in our current selection. Its price is set at €35,000. But after a good restoration, the German sedan will certainly charm all those who cross its path.
