“According to the latest WHO data, almost 50% of new sexually transmitted infections affect people aged 15 to 24,” recalls SIS ASSOCIATION.
Beyond young people, an increase in cases of sexually transmitted infections has been observed in France for several years. “In 2022, the incidence rate of Chlamydia infections was 102 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, i.e. +16% compared to 2020. That of gonorrhoea was 44/100,000, i.e. +91% compared to 2020, and that of syphilis was 21/100,000, i.e. +110% compared to 2020”, precise Public Health France.
“The number of people who discovered their HIV status in 2022 was estimated at between 4,200 and 5,700. This number increased again in 2021 and 2022 following the sharp decline observed in 2020,” also indicates the health agency.
