Your first name is much more important than you think. According to an Israeli study, a first name determines a look, a lifestyle and unconsciously pushes us to “look like it”.
Researchers prove that first names can be read on faces
Sometimes it takes nine months, sometimes a few seconds, to find a child’s first name. A name that he will keep all his life and who could influence many more aspects of his daily life than his parents imagine. Calling oneself Matthew, Yanis or Jérémie would have a significant impact on daily life, on personality, and on the perception that others will have of the subject concerned.
This conclusion, researchers at the University of Jerusalem have just detailed in a study published in the Journal of Personality and social psychology. And to achieve their result, the authors of this study conducted a series of tests during which voluntary participants were subjected to different face photos to which they had to associate first names that were suggested to them. At the end of these tests, scientists found that searching for a face based on first name brought better results (up to 40% of positive responses) that when the only chance was involved.
Your first name also influences your look
” A person’s first name is reflected on their face “, Estimate the authors of the study who suggest thata first name is a kind of rule of life for the one who wears it. In other words, you imagine society associating your first name with a lifestyle, and you embrace it. ” We become what others expect of us “, Confirm the researchers.
Besides the lifestyle, the look would also be closely linked to the first name. To reach this second conclusion, the researchers repeated their experience by showing the volunteers only modifiable details of the faces of the people to be named. In most cases, the hairstyle made it possible for observers to find the corresponding first name.
