People with a low income are increasingly avoiding the dentist because of high costs. What do you think, should an appeal to care be free of charge or is a personal contribution justified?
About 70 percent of the lowest income group visits the dentist at least once a year, writes de Volkskrant. Dutch people with the highest incomes go more often (more than 85 percent). In the case of the dental hygienist, these differences are similar.
No basic coverage
The reason is the cost. A visit to the dentist is not reimbursed under the basic insurance, you must take out supplementary insurance. This does not apply to the general practitioner. According to the ANBO for the elderly, the personal contribution and the deductible are often higher than expected. In the past eight years, the deductible has increased from 150 to 385 euros.
