Reporting. On the occasion of the Fête du Souffle, pharmacies and specialized centers welcome the public for breath tests. A free screening appreciated by former smokers …
To know the state of your lungs, there are not thousands of solutions: test your breath! For three days, the Fête du Souffle takes place all over France, from September 25 to 27. “Three days to realize that our breath is precious and that it deserves that we take care of it”, can we read on the site of the event.
For the occasion, pharmacies, hospitals and other health structures welcome the public and offer free breath tests. Fanny, 39, went to the Maison du Poumon in Paris. As a former heavy smoker, she came to check that her breath did not bear any consequences from her years of smoking.

The objective of this initiative: to improve the prevention and management of respiratory diseases. 8 million French people suffer from asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The organizers of the event recall that these diseases “can progress silently for years”. Hence the need to be tested.
“The test is carried out in a few minutes using a peak flow meter,” explains Dominique Bacrie, deputy director of the Fondation du Souffle, at the origin of this event. Several abnormalities can be detected, including bronchial braking, the most common. So we refer people to pulmonologists. Fortunately, not everyone is really sick! Some people just misuse their breath. To them, we give them advice on how to breathe better. “
Here are 10 signs that may indicate chronic respiratory disease:
– You quickly get out of breath going up the stairs.
– You work in a dusty environment, in contact with toxic substances.
– You have the impression of lacking oxygen at times.
– You are over 40 years old.
– You have been smoking for over 10 years.
– You notice a loss of endurance during your sports activities.
– You cough regularly.
– You’re coughing up mucus.
– You have had lung disease in the past.
