Are bees our new health allies? In any case, this is the opinion of Patrice Percie du Sert, beekeeping engineer and owner of a center one-of-a-kind wellness center, located in Lot-et-Garonne. And for good reason: we practiceapitherapy and we treat theasthma thanks to the air of beehives!
The secret ? Pheromones
The beekeeper discovered this practice during a trip to Ukraine for the needs of a congress. “In the exhibition hall, there was a man who sold little huts with four beehives built into them. People would lie down in them and spend between one and two hours there to breathe the warm air that came out of the beehives. “, he explains to 20 minutes. The secret of this practice would lie in the pheromones released by the larvae ofbees, in particular methyl palmitate, which is said to have an effect on asthma. “I think that there is also a synergy between the different molecules. The other pheromones present have as yet been very little studied”, specifies Patrice Percie du Sert.
In its wellness center, beekeeping has two inhalation stations. The principle is simple: people with asthma place their nose and mouth in a mask, connected to beehives by a pipe. They can thus inhale the air that comes from it and enjoy its benefits, which would not be limited toasthma : headaches would also be soothed. The session lasts 30 minutes and costs 25 euros after three free trials.
