Brazilian straightening: for whom?
This method, which is suitable for all, whether we have colored or highlighted hair ( read also, “Hair color: new ideas for the start of the school year”), promises to soften without giving us a totally stiff look. Some clients with straight hair adopt Brazilian straightening just to benefit from the care effect, which makes them more beautiful by strengthening them!

Brazilian straightening: the technique
By penetrating a solution based on keratin (substance which constitutes the hair and the nails), and in particular one of its amino acids, carbocisteine, one makes the hair very malleable, while repairing it in depth. Then, smoothing plates passed over the lengths print the movement. Some labs also speak of Brazilian smoothing in the case of a more “light” Japanese smoothing. In this case, only the dosage of the active ingredient varies and the result becomes permanent.
In practice
In most cases, the operation stops after the passage of the plates, the client must avoid washing her hair for three days, while the treatment takes effect (with some techniques, a treatment performed by hand. end closes the scales of the hair, which allows them to be washed immediately). The operation lasts about two hours.
The result
No more foamy locks and frizz, the hair is “tamed”! On the other hand, the softening differs according to its nature: if it is curly, we obtain looser, less pronounced curls; on real curls, a wavy finish. And if it’s just wavy, flexible hair. As it is a real treatment, the hair is also shinier and more resistant. The result lasts three to four months.

Brazilian straightening: what maintenance?
Do not tie the hair for a few days or drag it behind the ears. Some brands also advise acquiring specific care, because sodium laureth sulfate (contained in many shampoos) tends to eliminate the keratin which allows the hair to remain smooth. It is therefore better to inquire beforehand to know if it is necessary to invest in more.
How much does it cost ?
It all depends on the length of the hair: from 200 € for a short bob to 600 € if they are ultra-long.

Brazilian straightening: another method
L’Oréal Professionnel has developed a high-performance treatment that borrows from Japanese and Brazilian straightening.
The X-tenso Moisturist technique consists of partially erasing the initial shape of the hair, then welding them together using a fixing product. It is thus possible to obtain a “stiff rods” or wavy effect. The result is permanent (until regrowth).
