Now that the hay fever season has arrived, you are nowhere safe from the pollen. Not even in the car, where a sneeze is life-threatening.
In city traffic, one sneeze quickly means that you travel about 14 meters with your eyes closed. A lot can happen in those 14 meters, with sometimes far-reaching consequences. “For the motorist, in the worst case scenario, this can make the difference between life and death,” said Achmed Leser of the German TÜV.
Here’s how to prevent a sneeze in the car:
- Replace the filters of your air conditioning or ventilation system regularly.
- Keep the windows of your car closed.
- Set the recirculation mode on your air conditioner.
- Clean the interior of your car regularly to remove allergens.
- Wear sunglasses while driving.
