This substance, present in the bark ofbitter orange, is part of the composition of many so-called “slimming” food supplements, of the burner type in general. Since 2009, ANSES has received no less than 18 reports of adverse reactions likely to be linked to the consumption of food supplements containing p-synephrine.
Hence his recommendations
– The intakes of p-synephrine by food supplements must be less than 20 mg / day.
– p-synephrine and caffeine must not be combined.
– The use of products containing p-synephrine is not recommended during physical activity and for sensitive populations: people undergoing treatment (in particular for hypertension, heart disease or depression), pregnant or breastfeeding women, children and adolescents.
