I wondered why the podiatrist never agrees on a future date for checking the feet or possibly arch supports?
I go to the podiatrist if I suffer from painful feet, but that can be prevented with a timely check?

Sepp Mortelmans, podiatrist
If people are fitted with podiatric soles, it is very dependent on the person how long the soles last or how long it takes for the complaints to return. On average, a pair of podiatric insoles last 2 years. However, some people need to replace the soles more often and come for an annual check-up, others can walk on the soles for 3-4 years before problems arise again. That is why it is quite difficult to set a fixed moment for everyone to get back on track.
Within Podotherapists Rondom, for which I work, we try to send people a call every year to have their soles checked again. This way we can check whether the soles still offer sufficient correction.
However, not every podiatrist works with this standard. You are of course always free to schedule an annual check-up with your podiatrist to have the soles checked.
Do you also have a question? Then ask one of our experts. Always go to your doctor with urgent questions, the experts are not the right person for that. They also do not diagnose. You can find the other conditions here.
