In some people, intercourse can last 6 seconds
Men who are often the first to equate sex with performance will be happy to know that the average duration of intercourse is 6 minutes. In any case, this is what a study conducted by a team of researchers from the Society for Sex Therapy and Research reveals. To achieve these results, they asked 500 heterosexual couples in Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Spain to time each other during their legs-in-the-air games.
Results: some did not need more than 6 seconds to reach Nirvana, while others could last 53 minutes. However, the majority of intercourse lasted between 4 and 11 minutes. These calculations did not take into account the foreplay, but only the duration of the penetration until orgasm.
What predisposes a man to last longer?
The study does not however specify what predisposes a man to hold out for a longer or shorter period. No woman can want each of her intercourse to last 53 minutes, but some would love to learn how to make these little moments together last a little longer.
Further studies will certainly be needed to gain an understanding of the physical, psychological and psychosomatic mechanisms that lead a man to be a good lover. Other factors like fatigue, taking medication or alcohol are certainly also to blame. And then love too, right?
