A ranking of the favorite sexual positions of Americans and Europeans has just been published.
- The doggy style, the missionary and the andromache are the three favorite positions of Europeans and Americans.
- Regardless of the position, sex is always healthy.
35.1% of respondents prefer doggy style, according to a study on the sexual preferences of Europeans and Americans conducted by Zavamed, a website that offers remote medical consultation services. Then come the missionary – for 22.5% of the participants – and the andromache, for 19.4%. With much less appeal, individuals then like to practice the positions of the legs in the air (4.3%), the 69 (4.3% also), the spoons (4.1%), the inverted andromache (3.9%), fellatio or cunnilingus (3.2%), anal sex (2.1%) and the square (1.2%).
The survey highlights that favorite sexual positions vary according to gender and sexual orientation. Nevertheless, doggy style appeals equally to both sexes. On the other hand, opinions differ on anal sex, preferred by men, and the charette, which women like more. For heterosexual and bisexual people, the first three sexual positions to try are the strut, the standing 69 and the cart. For those who are homosexual, the standing 69 comes first, followed by the square and the cart.
Differences between countries
The study also highlights the differences between countries. Thus, doggy style would be more practiced in France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Austria, Romania and the United States. Italians, Swiss and Belgians would prefer the andromaque. In Portugal and Hungary, the legs in the air would be practiced more, in the Netherlands the missionary and in Poland the spoons.
On the other hand, the questionnaire submitted to the participants also asked them where they had learned of the existence of these sexual positions. For 53.8% of men, it was with pornographic films, while 42.2% of women had experienced them with a partner. To the question “who takes the initiative to test new positions?” 75.3% of men answer that it is them, against 58.3% of women.
Finally, the main fear of trying new practices would be to hurt his or her partner for men (37.5%) and not to be flexible enough for women (31.9%).
Sex has many health benefits
Beyond the positions, sexual practice whatever it is is good for your health. According to an American study published in 2004, the frequency of sexual intercourse would influence the immune system. Researchers found that people who had sex at least twice a week had more defenses against germs and viruses.
On the other hand, sex could also reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men and participate in the proper functioning of the joints. But the list does not end there! Making love would also help lower long-term blood pressure – which lowers the risk of developing heart problems – and stress.
In addition, during the act, the muscles are solicited and the heart rate increases while perspiration makes it possible to eliminate toxins. The benefits would therefore be comparable to physical exercise. Finally, last positive aspects: sex burns calories and also allows you to fall asleep better if the hug takes place in the evening!
