While many women struggle to have orgasms, cannabis can make it easier.
- Cannabis may help female orgasm, new research suggests.
- 88.8% of women surveyed reported reaching orgasm more frequently when using cannabis, compared to 63.3% when not smoking it.
- Only 65% of women consistently achieve orgasm during intercourse, compared to 95% of men.
Although it can be dangerous for health, cannabis makes it easier for women to reach orgasm after a new study.
The researchers based their findings on an anonymous survey of sexually active women conducted between March 24 and November 18, 2022. In total, they analyzed the responses of 387 participants, taking care to exclude those who were pregnant or breastfeeding.
+39.8% orgasms after smoking cannabis
The scientists then found that women who had difficulty reaching orgasm saw their frequency increase by 39.8% thanks to cannabis use. 88.8% of them also reported reaching orgasm more frequently when they took cannabis, compared to 63.3% when they did not smoke it.
86.1% of women surveyed also reported greater satisfaction with the quality of their orgasm after ingesting cannabis. Dissatisfaction rates also fell significantly, from 56.4% without cannabis to 20.8% with.
Finally, only 7.4% of participants felt that it was “extremely difficult” Or “impossible” to achieve orgasm with cannabis, compared to 22.8% without.
In contrast, women who regularly reached orgasm without any particular difficulty did not notice any difference in this regard with or without cannabis.
Orgasm: soon a cannabis-based medicine?
“My long-term goal is to gain recognition for female orgasmic dysfunction in the United States and to develop a cannabis-based prescription drug to treat this problem,” said the research author.
Despite the conclusions of this trialnote that cannabis use can also be dangerous for health, causing for example anxiety, sleep disorders, psychotic symptoms and bronchopathies.
The study, titled “Assessment of the effect of cannabis use before partnered sex on women with and without orgasm difficulty”was written by Suzanne Mulvehill and Jordan Tishler.
