According to a study carried out by the Viavoice-Harmonie Mutuelle Business and Health Observatory, the status of self-employed worker does not allow optimal social protection.
Self-employed people poorly reimbursed in the event of a health problem
For the 5e consecutive year the Viavoice-Harmonie Mutuelle Business and Health Observatory publishes a study on the state of health of self-employed workers in France. And it seems that we are not all equal when there is a health problem. It would all depend on our status. According to this work, relayed by our colleagues from Les Échos, only 64% of the self-employed would say that they pay attention to the consequences of their health on their professional activity.
But how to explain it? 87% of the self-employed surveyed believe that their status does not allow them to stop in the event of a health problem and 73% explain that their status does not allow them to benefit from optimal social protection. They would even be 66% to declare that they are poorly reimbursed in the event of a health problem.. There are many who aspire to enjoy the same benefits as employees.
What to do in the event of burnout?
A large majority of them (80%) hope that the President of the Republic will keep his word and that their situation can be unblocked. Emmanuel Macron has indeed promised, during his campaign, to remove the RSI (the Self-employed Social Scheme which does not function properly and which is widely contested) and to extend the right to unemployment benefits to self-employed workers in the event of cessation of activity.
“ The feeling of some of these workers is that, for issues relatively similar to those of employees, they do not enjoy the same rights », Comments Aurélien Preud’homme, director of studies at the Viavoice institute, in the columns of Echoes. “ Overwork, pressure at work, unattainable goals ” as well as ” depression and loss of self-confidence »Are also the lot of these independents, which will not be covered in the same way in the event of burnout.
