Tips to spoil yourself
Want to relax in your own bathroom? Use the tips below to pamper yourself. For example, get started with scrubs, peels, masks and essential oils.
Make your own spa bath
Would you like to make your own spa bath? First, let water run as hot as possible into your bathtub. Add some thermal bath salts, an effervescent tablet or an essential bath oil.
Choose juniper for stiff muscles, lavender for fatigue. If you long for a good night’s sleep, a hop/valerian extract is recommended. Then you regulate the water temperature so that it is pleasant.
Keep the bathroom door closed, put on some relaxing music, sink into the warm water and close your eyes. For better blood circulation in certain parts of the body, you can always rinse them briefly with cold water.
Give yourself a radiant face
Your facial skin has to endure a lot. Make-up and external influences (air conditioning, heating, exhaust fumes) do the skin no good. The basis for a radiant skin is a good cleaning, something you should faithfully do every day. But sometimes your facial skin could use a little extra attention.
Dead skin cells, for example, can make your face look gray and dull. By using a so-called peeling or scrub cream, you remove these dead cells. Such a cream (note: use a facial scrub) stimulates blood circulation, cleans clogged pores and stimulates the production of new cells.
Popular is also the microdermabrasion. It is a technique that goes deeper than a regular peeling. The top layer of your skin is abraded, making skin blemishes, fine lines and scars disappear. Thanks to various home kits, you no longer have to leave the house for such a treatment.
An invigorating scrub
Why limit yourself to your face when exfoliating? If you want fresh skin everywhere, you should exfoliate regularly to remove dead skin cells. Twice a week is a good starting point.
This is how you exfoliate your body successfully: use a (sisal) scrub glove with a reasonable amount of invigorating or relaxing (herbal) shower gel. Massage your entire body in short, quick circles. Start with your hands, arms, feet and legs. Then massage your torso with gentle movements in the direction of your heart.
Use a slower and less deep movement, so that the oxygen-rich blood can flow throughout your body and all limbs. Finish the scrub with a cold shower for half a minute and then rub yourself dry. Instead of an exfoliating glove, you can also opt for a ready-made body scrub.
Masks on
A mask not only cleanses your facial skin, but also softens and calms it. There are masks for all skin types and with different effects. Is your skin thin? Then use a nourishing mask.
Do you have thicker skin? Then it is best to use a cleansing mask. You have moisturizing masks, usually in the form of a cream or gel. And there are clay-based cleansing masks, which dry up and harden.
Powdered masks should be diluted with water, lotion, milk or oil. There are also masks in paste form and ready-made masks that you can apply to your face straight from the tube.
After exfoliating, apply the mask to damp skin. Don’t forget your neck, but skip sensitive areas such as the mouth and eye area.
After fifteen minutes it is best to remove the mask by gently wiping your face with a damp towel. Residues can be removed with tonic.
