It’s just what a madman gives for it, is often said. The amount of more than 25 million euros for this online artwork is quite bizarre.
Last year was the year of online artworks called NFTs (non-fungible tokens). The online artist ‘Beeple’ has been the most successful. Beeple’s latest NFT ‘Human One’ sells for $29 million. The artist plans to “improve the artwork displayed” during his lifetime.
Online artwork
Beeple is of course not his real name, his name is Michael Winkelmann. The American made history when he sold his online artwork “Everydays” on March 11 for $69.3 million. Beeple’s newest NFT called “Human One” is a life-size NFT sculpture that sold for $29 million (about $25 million), and the artist will update the NFT over the course of the rest of its existence on Earth.
His works of art yield so much, partly because they receive a lot of attention. Beeple makes headlines again during the day the Christie’s 21st Century Evening Sale featuring this new property. He is now one of the most famous NFT artists today. Beeple describes his latest NFT art as “the first portrait of a human born in the metaverse.” The interesting thing about Beeple’s “Human One” is that he strives to change it over the course of his life.
See change
This means that the owner, Ryan Zurrer, and any owners after that, can see the artwork from “Human One” turn into whatever Beeple wants to add. The changes may depend on his mood and may represent something the artist is thinking about.
Currently, the life-size 3D sculpture NFT shows a person in a silver spacesuit with boots, a helmet and a backpack. The 21st Century Evening Sale auction of “Human One” ended on November 8 with a realized price of $28,985,000.
